about me

Abu Saleh Titu is an independent artist based in Dhaka. Over three decades his brush, color and canvas craving creations to depict his subjects in various experimental forms. His works seems playing to break and reconstruct his figures; enjoys strong connection of colors to shape even mundane subjects. Apparently, his use of colors poses to be abnormal. But in deep sense, it connects their inner beauty on the canvas. He prefers figurative works that are interesting to find on a soft rhythm within.

Titu chooses for himself a life far away from the madding crowd, where he works in silence, submitting to the spirit of time! His preferred medium is oil an acrylic; with brush, spatula and small knives. His lust for life, vigour of his hands, his individuality of tone and mode, can easily be traced on his canvases. His paintings do not have a common theme and certainly they are not identical in medium, technique and vision. What attracts connoisseurs most is the strong link between internal beauty and thought expressed on the frames. Titu’s spontaneous, hearty and mighty love for beauty takes its way and expresses itself vibrantly in his works.

The first solo painting exhibition of Abu Saleh Titu was held in 1994 at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel (Intercontinental Hotel). The second solo in 2001 at Craig A Meisner’s gallery at Gulshan, Dhaka. In 2011, he jointly had a painting exhibition with Tawheed Reza Noor at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka. Third solo paintings exhibition of Titu was held at Bangladesh National Museum gallery in 2020.

Titu developed a passion for artistic expressions since very young age. While he was in grade nine, he himself arranged a sketch exhibition at his Sylhet Cadet College College campus, in 1983. After completion of his postgraduation in ‘Bangla language and literature’ from the University of Dhaka, he started pursuing paintings professionally. He worked in The Daily Ittefaq (a national newspaper) as an artist since 2001 to 2006. He worked with CONCERN, CIMMYT, SARPV, RHSTEP, IRRI, WHO and many other organizations as development artist. In 2008 he served as a consultant artist in an AED project funded by USAID.

His Paintings are adorning at The Bangabhaban, Dhaka Cantonment UNO peace keeping force office and in many private organizations along with individual homes around the world. In 2015, the then President of Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid received a painting from Titu, which was an honour for him.
